Field Service Technician

We are currently looking for a Field Service Technician – Pump and Motors to join our team. Types of serviced equipment can include electric pumps, motors, fans and blowers as well as VFD’s and PLC’s.
James Electric has 24/7 on-call services. Participation in the on-call rotation is a requirement for Field Service Technicians.
Duties:
- Investigate issues, on-site repair, removal and installation of customer equipment:
- Shaft alignment
- Field balancing
- Pump start-ups (fire and booster pumps)
- Inspections (sump, sewage and effluent, booster, fire and smart pumps)
- Connection and disconnection of electrical on customer equipment.
- Diagnostic testing of motor controls.
- Mechanical seal and bearing replacement.
- Complete repairs on-site (whenever possible).
- Safely remove and bring back to shop for repair if site repair is not an option.
- Provide detailed information about repair requirements to the Service Coordinator.
- Complete job-site hazard assessments prior to the start of the job.
- Complete all appropriate paperwork on-time, clearly and legibly.
- Care and maintenance of company tools as defined in Policy and Procedure manual.
- Communicate all issues to the Field Service Foreman.
- Complete all required on-site documentation including, but not limited to motor nameplate data, pictures, equipment serial numbers, equipment location.
- Complete all required documentation when bringing customer equipment back to James Electric shop for repair.
- Maintain a minimum required vehicle stock of repair parts.
- Operate company vehicles in a safe and courteous manner.
- Ensure required vehicle maintenance is completed as required by Policy and Procedure.
Qualifications:
- Millwright, EMST or other relevant journeyman certificate. 3rd or 4th year Apprentice will be considered if experience is relevant.
- Acceptable driver’s abstract.
- Computer literate in both desktop and mobile applications (Microsoft Word and Excel).
- Ability to communicate clearly with the Service Technicians, Salespeople and Customers.

- Confined space monitoring and entry
- VFD and PLC
- H2S Alive
- Standard First Aid
- ESTS
- Rigging safety
